On Making A Difference

The power to change comes with a privilege not all women have. The freedom I take for granted is denied to many all over the world – an injustice that is unacceptable to me. A global pandemic made me realize how I can utilize my privilege to help others.

While a virus takes over the world, I find being creative as my chosen refuge. The quarantine gave me time to draw, rediscovering my love to express hope and escape a harsh reality. As I posted my work on Instagram, I was happy to receive such positive feedback from my community. However, it took a little help from my friends to forge the idea to sell my illustrations. Thanks to their faith in my “art” I decided to give away my work and support a good cause along the way. (Thank you for the incentive, Simone!).

Choosing an organization in line with my feminist values I came across Footprint. (Thanks for your recommendations, Angelina & Verein Simone!). Footprint is an NGO that supports women affected by violence and human trafficking. They provide legal advice and social consultation and offer German courses and even Yoga classes – all of which for free. Furthermore, the Footprint team creates awareness for and educates about women trafficking in Austria. Footprint is a space where victims should feel safe and welcome. In order to make this happen the NGO is financed by donations only.

To show my support I teamed up with Footprint and dedicate my art to them. All proceeds generated by my art sale will go directly to Footprint’s donation account.

About my art

Inspired by all the strong women within my family and friends (fun fact: all of them are awesome) I named my art collection “Femme”. The images represent the utopian idea of a world where all women are free to live an autonomous life – free from social constraints, political oppression, on equal terms with fellow human beings. Seriously, how great would such a world be?

Please show your solidarity with a donation and receive an illustration of your choice (and some good Karma) in return.

Yours truly,
